"Interactions in Understanding the Universe" (aka I2U2) is looking to hire a software developer. The job is at Fermilab, outside of Chicago. The initial term is 3 years (the length of our new NSF grant). I2U2 is an outgrowth of Fermilab's QuarkNet program. We are developing a collection of "e-Labs", where high school students can make use of real data from cutting-edge physics experiments such as LIGO, CMS, and ATLAS. We will also provide access to grid computing resources so that students can perform large-scale analyses using those data. The overall idea is for students to learn science by experiencing real scientific inquiry with real data. (I wish there was something like this when I was in high school!).
